Myo D-Chiro Inositol works through the same general blood-sugar pathway as Berberine, but via a different mechanism - and the two are meant to complement rather than duplicate each other. Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are both naturally occurring forms of inositol, and the body maintains a specific ratio between them in healthy tissue - roughly 40 parts myo-inositol to 1 part D-chiro-inositol. This product is formulated to match that same physiological ratio rather than an arbitrary blend.
The two forms do different jobs: myo-inositol helps cells take in more glucose from the blood, while D-chiro-inositol supports how that glucose gets stored as energy. Used together in their natural ratio, they're thought to support insulin's normal signaling more completely than either form alone.
A 2016 pilot study in the International Journal of Endocrinology gave this same 40:1 combination to adults with type 2 diabetes for three months, alongside their existing medication. Fasting blood sugar and overall blood sugar control both improved significantly compared to baseline, with no reported side effects - notably, this was one of the few studies in this area to include men as well as women, since most earlier inositol research has focused specifically on women's health.
